Samsung Flip Phone 4 Review 2023

Many improvements have been made to the Galaxy Z Flip 4, including a thinner, lighter hinge and flatter edges. The Flip 4 performs flawlessly in every work thanks to the latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 CPU. Better battery life is present. Even with the night mode, the cameras are good but not nearly up to $999 level.
Less emphasis is placed on innovation in the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and more on refined modernization. It has smoother corners and smaller bezels to give off a more expensive appearance. It’s still a cute small phone despite that. With the content production tools and overall feel of the device, Samsung is definitely catering to the younger demographic, saving the “mature” and “professional” appearance for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Cost and Availability

On of August 26, you can now purchase the Galaxy Z Flip 4 via Samsung or other merchants and carriers. With 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 starts at $999/£999, which is the same price as last year for American consumers but slightly more for U.K. users. If you want more storage space, you can pay more for a 256GB model ($1,059) or the new 512GB variant ($1,179), but that’s the only distinction. With the help of one of our Samsung discount codes, we might be able to lower that cost a little for you.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Design

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 hardly appears any different from the outside. You’ll probably be ok with this if you adore the clamshell foldable design. The phone is the best huge phone, but it fits well in my pocket without protruding.
Like to last year, Samsung offers a wide range of color choices for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. If you want something reasonable, you can choose the Graphite choice, but you can also choose from the more vibrant Blue, Pink Gold, or Bora Purple options.

You can access things like Samsung Wallet or SmartThings and receive valuable information on the 1.9-inch cover display, which is still present. As soon as I opened the phone, I noticed the thinner bezels. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 appears much cleaner and more contemporary than the Galaxy Z Flip 3, which had a few really prominent ones.

Like last year, the side-mounted power button also serves as the fingerprint sensor, and I still think its position is odd and excessively high. Don’t even get me started on the volume rocker, which is located on the upper right side of the upper part. Once your finger is properly positioned, the fingerprint sensor itself responds fairly quickly.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Displays

The Galaxy Z Flip 4’s internal display is a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED with a 1080p resolution and an adjustable refresh rate of 1-120Hz. It is intensely saturated right out of the box, as is customary for Samsung to demonstrate the AMOLED’s color capabilities. The cover screen is also a Super AMOLED and measures 1.9 inches. If you have a picture for your background on that tiny panel, this is fantastic.

In the Galaxy Z Flip 4, the display crease, or the point where the two displays converge, is still there. Unfortunately, it is still rather noticeable. Most of the time, you can see it and feel it when you run your finger over it. With the Flip 4, I had hoped Samsung would have discovered a solution to this, however it doesn’t appear that is the case. It doesn’t appeal to me any more than the Galaxy Z Flip 3 did.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip 4 only slightly improved upon the Galaxy Z Flip 3 thanks to a 12MP primary sensor that Samsung claims is 65% brighter. The internal 10MP selfie camera and the 12MP ultrawide camera are identical. The software doesn’t appear to have changed much either, based on my testing. Nonetheless, the night mode has.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4’s image is much brighter and more vivid than the iPhone 13 Pro Max’s when we first look at this outdoor playground. Compared to the Flip 4, the latter offers a more muted color palette and better exposure control.

Compared to the Flip 4’s photo, the slide and the trees beyond are much more accurately colored. The brightness of the treeline close to the sky gives away the Flip’s impending overexposure. The Flip 4 has a fine picture overall, but I like the iPhone’s more realistic appearance.

In the early morning hours prior to daybreak, I attempted another indoor low-light photograph. In both images, the purple pumpkin centerpiece looks beautiful and the space appears to be well-lit. The purple of the pumpkin was made more vibrant by the Galaxy Z Flip 4, whilst it was made much more subdued by the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

I put both phones through a three-second exposure test. Here, I believe the Flip 4 triumphs. Compared to the iPhone photo, the pumpkin is considerably more obvious, and its purple color appears much nicer. Samsung increasing the saturation may be effective at this point.

Review of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4: Performance

A new chipset comes with a new year. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, the newest chip from Qualcomm, combined with 8GB of RAM. This processor has been put to the test by us in devices like the Asus Zenfone 9 and we discovered it to be a potent choice. While its GPU saw some enhancements, especially over the Snapdragon 888 in the Galaxy Z Flip 3, its CPU functions didn’t get much of an increase over the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (which the Galaxy S22 utilizes).
Even challenging games like Genshin Impact run smoothly on the Galaxy Z Flip 4. As compared to today’s gaming phones, which typically have 16GB or 18GB of RAM, 8GB of RAM appears little, but in my experience, it was more than adequate. The Flip 4 performs marginally better in the 4K-1080p transcode test of Adobe Premiere Rush than the Galaxy S22 Plus. But Apple continues to hold a sizable advantage.

Samsung Z Flip 4 charging and battery life

The Z Flip 3’s battery life was one of, if not the, device’s poorest features. At its best, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was a one-day phone, and you frequently had to find a charger before the day was done. Samsung made a few significant adjustments to the Z Flip 4 in response to the battery problems, which were heard loud and clear. The Z Flip 4 has a 3,700 mAh dual-cell battery in addition to the more energy-efficient Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 CPU, which is a 500 mAh improvement over the 3,300 mAh battery in the Z Flip 3.

what is good news? Compared to the Flip 3, the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s battery life is noticeably greater. Is that terrible news? Still, it’s just adequate for use for a whole day. I had a good day with the Flip 4 when I finished the day at 10:53 PM with 23% battery remaining. That came after 14 hours of total use time, with 3 hours and 42 minutes spent staring at the screen. During that time, I watched almost an hour of YouTube, spent over 30 minutes on Twitter, scrolled around Reddit for 16 minutes, played 10 minutes of Duolingo, and more. With 15% battery life left after another day, the phone’s usage time has increased to 14 hours and 52 minutes. That came after spending 2 hours and 23 minutes in front of the screen, which included a Teams video conference that lasted over 30 minutes, 30 minutes on Twitter, calling and tracking an Uber service, and frequent usage of the Delta app while boarding a few planes.

Conclusion

There are many alternative options available if you want a flagship with industry-leading cameras, multi-day battery life, or lightning-fast charging. But, if you don’t mind giving up some of those features for an original design, the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is the best option available. Although it doesn’t have the most advanced technology in every single area, this phone is still elegant, attractive, and entertaining in a way that conventional slab smartphones will never be able to match. However, the Flip 4 performs substantially better in the areas where the Flip 3 faltered, such as battery life and charging. The Galaxy Z Flip 4 stands tall as one of my favorite smartphones of the year when you combine that distinctive approach with precise execution in so many categories. whatever dull the situation is intended to be.
